Shabbaton Happiness

My CTeen shabbaton experience was truly amazing and I couldn’t ask for it to be any different (except maybe a longer weekend). I had so much fun, made so many new friends, formed a better understanding of the Jewish religion, and enjoyed being able to come together as one community but still from hundreds of different cities and countries.

I had so much fun throughout the whole trip and there wasn’t one moment where I found myself bored with nothing to do. We went shopping, sightseeing, we went to see the Rebbe’s gravesite and not only did we visit it, we also participated by writing a personal letter, then tearing it up and throwing it into the grave so that he would read it and bless us and give us a chance of hope in getting what we wanted.

I made friends from all over the world. For example Canada, Miami, New Jersey, New York, Manchester, Essex and many, many more. I will definitely be staying in touch with them for as long as I can on Facebook, on whatsapp on anything that will help us stay in contact. I didn’t just make friends my age. There were a variety of ages. And let’s not forget our leaders of Manchester girls’ CTeen Mushka, Chaya, and Zeldie, my experience wouldn’t have been the same without you.

My better understanding in religion has become stronger throughout this weekend. With all the discussions and speeches and the unison we had was fantastic. Even though I have only met my new friends over a period of a weekend I already feel closer than ever. My highlight has almost definitely got to be the concert in Times Square. We all came together and gathered in Times Square, listening to Alex Clare sing, and just seeing everyone standing and staring in Times Square, desperately wishing they could do what we did and then to top that off we were livestreamed to an advertisement screen in Times Square so everyone could see us .

I can definitely take away with me a better understanding, many new friends and the ability of talking to absolute strangers on the subway and managing to make them smile .

Thank you CTeen for making this trip what it was; I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without you and I hope to see everyone next year.
