CTeen Shabbaton: Inspiring Moments

There are so many moments that stick out in my mind as being inspiring and life changing. It started at the beginning of the Shabbaton, on Thursday night during a cruise around New York with our fellow CTeen chapters from CTeen Bucks County and CTeen Delaware. While on the subway to the cruise, we danced and sang at the top of our lungs in a crowded subway car. You could feel the energy in the air—it was an incredible experience and opportunity to express our Jewish pride
Then, on Friday after ‘taking over’ New York City, we returned to Crown Heights for the Shabbat of a lifetime. It was a time connect to one another connect, with Hashem, and connect with ourselves.
On Motzai Shabbat, right before CTeen was meant to take over Times Square, it began to pour. But, as Rabbi Dovid reminded us: through rain and shine, there was no better place to be than in Times Square singing Am Yisrael Chai with 2,000 other Jewish teens. Even though it stopped raining, his words stuck with me the whole time.
Sunday, we did it again! we were bursting at the seems never in my wildest dreams would i have seen grown so much we would have to fit inside a boat terminal. Once we all got settled the stories of teens just like you and me talk about how cteen changed their lives in their cteen moment. Then to the mitzvah pledge where we all got together with our chapters and pledged to take on a mitzvah even if it meant going out of our comfort zone. Now to close out the shabbaton with a bang we all got treated to a surprise performance by Israeli superstar gad elbaz.
Throughout the entire Shabbaton, we were all inspired by someone or something. Now is the time to make something of that inspiration and continue growing, until the next Shabbaton, or until we meet again!
