A Year (or Three) in Review

As my time in CTeen has drawn to a close, it’s given me time to reflect on the last three years, the opportunities I was given, and the person I’ve become.

Nothing can compare to the past three years. When we started CTeen in St. Petersburg, Florida I was fifteen and shy and I thought I knew everything, but in reality I had very little sense of who I was. Our first event as a chapter was attending a shabbaton in Orlando where I was more focused on having fun (and also making a fool out of myself), and less focused on the incredible, unapologetically Jewish environment around me. At fifteen, I never would’ve imagined I’d be writing this last article today.

CTeen has given me the opportunity to befriend and work with so many amazing people, most importantly my fellow leaders and the whole CTeen Connection crew, and for that I am eternally grateful. It’s hard to believe that after three shabbtons and countless Sundays spent hanging out and volunteering with my chapter, I’ve graduated high school and my time in CTeen has officially come to an end.

I’ve watched my chapter grow from eight people in our first year, to 19 currently, and nothing could make me more proud. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the past three years, it’s that there is strength and safety in numbers.  Everyone is a teacher if you’re willing to listen. And never forget that YOU can make a difference.
